Grand Rapids
Neighborhood Guide
I’ve lived in and served West Michigan my entire life and I’ve come to love the unique character of the neighborhoods that make up the Grand Rapids area. Below you’ll find my take on each of these wonderful neighborhoods.
Alger Heights
“Small Town in the City”
Community is paramount in this neighborhood. There are so many individuals who move in and stay forever. Which is no surprise when you can walk just about anywhere! Lace up your sneakers and hit the sidewalk to downtown Alger Heights located on Eastern between Alger and 28th Street. There you will find a library, shops, grocery, and restaurants along with a brewery because you live in Beer City after all, right?! The era of homes span from the 1920 Colonials up to the 1950s Bungalows. Prices range from $200,000 – 350,000.
Midtown
“A vibrant place to live, work, and play!”
Calling all artists, educators and young professionals! A hip community calls you home with some groovy antique stores, consignment shops, coffee to.die.for! and the beloved Fulton Farmers Market. If you have a fur baby you will love Hillcrest dog park! Close to major Universities, Medical Mile, and 196 Expressway. This neighborhood is made up of homes from the early 1900s. Prices range from $175,000 – 330,000.
Downtown
“Best in-class American City”
The downtown area is made up of many districts. Sports, Performing Arts, Music, Food, Drink, all within reach. This hot spot draws professionals from all over. A vibrant community within walking distance to multiple bridges over the beautiful Grand River that divides the West side from the East side of the city. With no shortage of things to do, the downtown area is a thriving and robust place to live and work. Modern highrise condos and townhomes sprinkle throughout and offer residents convenience and class. Prices range from $225,000+
Creston
“The north-end”
Grand Rapids largest neighborhood with a couple well known business districts within reach: Creston & Cheshire. Living in Creston offers access to trails, parks, and close proximity to the city. On the NE side of the city you will find a charming neighborhood with caring, dedicated people. Now home to many murals and street art, the neighborhood has turned historic buildings into art and inspiration to its community! The charm of the 1920s meets the allure of mid century modern architecture. Homes range from early 1900s to mid to late century. Price points $150,000 – 250,000.
